ACTING:
DomasArt Film School offers acting courses based on the methods and experiences of the great masters who revolutionized the art of acting: from Konstantin Stanislavski, Michael Chekhov, Lee Strasberg, Stella Adler, Sanford Meisner, Uta Hagen, David Mamet, to contemporary masters such as Ivana Chubbuck, Susan Batson, and Dominique De Fazio, and many others.
After exploring the methods and techniques of the great masters, what truly matters is a path that goes beyond methods and techniques.A path that guides you deeply into the search for authenticity, where the actor finally rediscovers freedom, truth, and feels alive within their own art.
Here is an overview of the main acting methods and techniques that will be studied, along with a brief description of their essential aspects.
Stanislavskij:
Naturalistic acting, realism.
Greater understanding of life processes.
Lee Strasberg:
Research and study of emotional memory.
Stella Adler:
Imagination beyond the emotional appeal, “drawing on the emotions that I have experienced”.
Meisner:
“Live truthfully under certain imaginary circumstances”.
And his famous exercise in repetition of one facing another.
Michael Chekhov:
A psycho-physical approach to acting, focusing on mind, body, and an awareness of the senses.
Practical Aesthetics:
Analysis of the scene in four phases; the actors are required to focus on what is literally happening in the scene and what is needed from the other characters.
Uta Hagen:
Realism and truth above all else; “Replacement” (or “transfer”) encourages the actors to substitute their own experiences and emotional memories for the specific circumstances of a scene.
Ivana Chubbuck:
Twelve steps to follow so as to get into character and make it alive.
Understand what the goal that the character wants and needs to obtain is, and the need to reach that goal that guides the actions of the character.
Susan Batson:
Show the actors how to prepare and which keys to use to create the life of a character, fully human, of extraordinary expressive greatness and in the name of the watchword “truth”.
Dominique De Fazio:
Teaching and giving the actor the necessary tools to become a “creative actor” while maintaining “authenticity” as a reference so that the artist can create original characters and scenes, thus breaking away from the usual patterns and methods.’
WRITING:
Behind every great film lies a great screenplay, the invisible soul of a work, born from the incredible effort of authors capable of transforming ideas and emotions into images.
At DomasArt Film School, we always remind our students that writing is the root of every audiovisual creation and also the lifeblood of many other arts. Studying writing and screenwriting means learning to think in images, to build worlds, to give voice to the stories that ask to be told, until you see them come to life in films, TV series, documentaries, performances, books, and more.
